Forgive my ignorance but is the WPUK Unconference in Birmingham classed as a WordCamp event and if not, is there any likelihood of another WP conference of sorts later in the year (in addition to, I presume London)?
Hi Joff – you can see in the last paragraph in the post above ‘WordCamp status for the event has been applied for’ from WordCamp Central – we’ll post here when the outcome of this application is known.
All confirmed UK WordPress local meetings and conferences are listed at http://wpuk.org/events/
Joff, There will likely be WordCamp’s in Manchester and London, and possibly more, next year. Keep an eye on WordCamp Central http://central.wordcamp.org/

Thanks Mike, Tony, for confirming that.
I’m considering starting a local meeting here in Peterborough (inspired by a visit from Tim Nash) but also feel the city could be a good venue for a future WordCamp. event.
Hi Joff – If you get a local group going, contact me at http://wpuk.org/contact/ and I can list it on http://wpuk.org/events/ (for the first meeting probably best to have a social type meeting to discuss future format etc).
The weekend of 7-8 February 2015 in Birmingham is the date and location for the follow-up to WordCamp Bournemouth UK 2014.
Details of the venue for the event are expected to be released shortly.
This conference will be number 8 in the WordPress weekend series for WordPress publishers, designers and developers.
Great news. Just put the date in the diary, so look forward to being there!
See you there, Mike!
The number of Birmingham WordPress local organisers has increased, as the group prepares to resume regular meetings.
New organisers Jonny Allbut and Rachel McCollin have joined with Nathan Roberts to expand the organisational team.
The Birmingham group will resume regular meetings on 13 August 2014, and Rachel is seeking speakers:
Talks of any length are very welcome, ranging from lightning talks of a few minutes to longer talks. We’re looking for speakers on any WordPress related topic for developers and/or users, and if you haven’t spoken at an event like this before don’t be shy, we’re very friendly!
Responses can be made on the group’s Meetup discussion board.

Hi Tony, thanks for helping to publicise this. We’re looking forward to getting the group up and running again.
+1 there Tony – appreciated ;)
Bournemouth University is going to be the venue for the WPUK unconference on 12-13 July 2014 .
This follows the ballot of WPUK Discuss registered users to select the venue, in which 31 voted for Bournemouth and 30 for Birmingham.
The WPUK Core Group would like to thank the Birmingham and Bournemouth teams for their respective venue bids, and to all WPUK Discuss users who participated in the ballot.
Surprised how close the voting was! Look forward to heading to Bournemouth in July! :)
